Pretending I'm in France...

He's baaaaaaccckkkkk!!!

After a 11 month hiatus, great slothfulness, culture shock, weight gain, weight loss, and being too big of a PUSS to walk around the block without me going with him... Max caught his first mousie.

When I heard the low growling ecstatic meow and saw the other cats perking up, I knew he was back in business.  Although I'm pleased that Max got his mojo back, I'm not a big fan of having to dispose of small mammalian remains.

FBI Warning. For realz.

R.I.P. Satellite Coffee, Market Street, Tacoma

<sniff>

Two other locations still open, but this was right next to the YMCA where I swim (did I previously mention the 85 degree salt water pool?  nuff said.)

Stylin' coherent graphics.

Cool inside.

[[posterous-content:pid___1]]

The best part?  Funky bubblicious neon...

[[posterous-content:pid___15]]

Oh, and coffee from the great Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Again, great coherent corporate graphics and beautiful images on their site.

[[posterous-content:pid___5]]

And just in case the coffee revs your engine too high... next door there is a "Alternative Medicine" dispensary.  Check out the crown.

Yes. It's EXACTLY what you think it is.

Springtime around Tacoma town, oh and FUSCHIAS

Who knew?  It never even occurred to me that fuschia was a FLOWER as well as a color.  What a "doh" moment!  These are very fussy flowers that bruise when you touch the buds or flowers.  I love the look of them but they are a pain in the neck.

Pookie lounging in the sun with a bouquet and Max securing the perimeter.  Eventually the sun was too much for the old girl so she partook of some shade and then the clouds came up over my garage.

Dumb visual joke, but I couldn't help myself.

These poppies are epic.  The buds are almost as big as a child's fist and when they open, the flowers are as big as a dinner plate.  Epic.

Stylin' on the waterfront.  Fuzzy, yes.  But shot whilst driving, through an open window.

Fun with Pat and Lysa

Pat, the silver-tressed beauty that has become a new friend and coworker (yin to my yang, Federal Civilian to my Federal DOD) has been so much fun!  We had a lunch at Anthony's at Point Defiance right on the water.

I visited her beautiful home in Lakewood, situated on an acre of land with the most beautiful developed gardens, immaculately groomed and buffed and trimmed.  I scored an enormous bouquet of lilacs that filled my home with their beautiful scent for a week.

But my favorite thing in her early '60's house was the AWESOME Nutone control panel for the stereo system THAT STILL WORKS throughout the house.

I remember seeing these in the homes of friends and was so envious of their ability to listen to music in every room in the house as well as "page" someone in another room.  The concept of something more than a big fixed radio in a large box was still prevalent, with the transistor radio only becoming affordable and available in the early 60's.  I can still remember how excited I was to finally have one and would fall asleep listening to the crackly music.  Good times.
