Birthday skate shesh at Horseshoe Bay

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Ali skate in a long time so this was a treat.  I love watching him drop in, creating interesting shadows.

At some point a competition erupted to see who could stay on their board the longest going around the bowl in a circle.  Up first, Dan.

Ali went last, going the other 'way round the bowl since he's goofy-footed.  He had the top score, with 17 rounds.  I think the boys let him win, for his birthday.

Even with a win under his belt, the genetic Schloesser klutziness periodically rears it's head...

And when you're tired of skating, there's always a fencing match with skateboards on a teeter-totter...

Brunch with friends

Shockingly, they are all beautiful, captivating, and fun.  I'm happy that Ali has so many good friends. It was interesting to meet everyone; all y'all!

David Roth always looks so dissolute, but he's a great photographer.  The iconic David of the Bigir story is also responsible for documenting the Easy Rider shoot.  (Apologies to all for being so meta.)

Pussycat, pussycat, where have you been?

I've been to London to visit the Queen.

Pussycat, pussycat, what did you there?

I frightened a little mouse under her chair.

Mumsy used to recite this nursery rhyme to us.  However, I wasn't in London, I was in Vancouver for Ali's birthday.

Interwebs, the Boy is 20.  I KNOW, right?!

From a rosy cheeked little munchkin typing with Mumsy....

...to this great big guy going off to work at his internship at Color Magazine.  As it says in the masthead:  SKATE / MUSIC / ART / FILM / LIFE / FASHION / PRINT.  It is the most beautiful skate mag I have ever seen, and I thought that BEFORE Ali worked there.

This is a dream come true for him, I and I couldn't be more proud.
