Mary Martin, best remembered by me for her portrayal of Peter Pan, did this delightful short in 1953 on Fashion, with a capital F.
And, for good or for ill, she was the mother of Larry Hagman.

Amazing. This exhibit is on until June 17th and I intend to go back as many times as I can. I went with Lina when she was home and we were smitten by his work. The photos don't do his work justice - it's so intricate and complex. The video gives a much better glimpse into the beauty.
Paul Stankard. Don't miss it.
Kate McKinnon wrote about religion yesterday. Her header says "Lover, Fighter, Dreamer"
I would add: "Bead Goddess" and "Wordsmith."
Great story this week on "This American Life" about Asperger Syndrome. Here's the summary:
Kristen Finch was a speech therapist who sometimes worked with kids with Asperger Syndrome, symptoms of which include emotional distance, inflexibility and missing social cues. Kristin and her co-workers often joked that all their husbands had Asperger's, since the symptoms overlap with stereotypically male personality traits. But then Kristen wondered—what if it was actually true for her husband Dave? The quiz that Dave Finch took to determine whether he had Aspergers can be found online (note: it's not an official diagnostic tool). Dave wrote a book about this experience, called The Journal of Best Practices. (15 1/2 minutes)
And here's a link to the test. You can take the test without registering. Very informative. I'll post my results later. ;)

so here's the thing. back in kansas city, you tried to get a car wash when you knew it was going to be "non-wet" for a good few days. failing that, if you went to Waterway, you would get a "rain check" so if it rained, you could get a re-wash.
here in the PNW, you wash your car rain or shine just to get all the crap off of your car. mud, salt, whatever. and i can't tell you the number of times i've driven out of the carwash and it was raining.
it is what it is. but i see the ocean and the mountains EVERY DAY.
Leaving my house to go on appointments, I spotted two bald eagles soaring overhead.
It was so clear today that at one point in my drive back from Joint Base Lewis McChord, I could see both Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. This beautiful photo is courtesy of Kris Fricke, looking north from Mt. St. Helens.
Driving on Ruston Way, continuing homewards, I could also see Mt. Baker to the northeast
and the Olympics
Bring it ON, Mother Nature. It's your time.
are totally like this. I swear I've never seen such crappy directional signage in my life.
